Testimonials

We had an absolutely fantastic month in Ghana, and Cobbinah was amazing! We wanted to travel and see the country at the weekends when we weren’t volunteering, so he drove us up to Mole National Park where we had the most incredible time on safari, to Lake Bosomtwe and Kintampo Waterfalls which were beautiful and great to swim in, and even took us to his friend Adjoa’s wedding! He really knows what he’s doing and is always ready to go out of his way to help you out. I highly recommend going to Ghana to volunteer, it will be an absolutely unforgettable experience and you’ll come out of it with a real love for the people you meet and for the country itself.

I volunteered for PMGY with a friend of mine last year during my gap year before going to Bristol university. We came to Kumasi during December , a particularly quiet time for volunteers like myself and my friend Hannah. The programme was run by a man called Seth Mensah with the help of his friend Cobbinah Richard. Despite December being a quite time of the year for volunteers it did not feel like that for me and my friend. Cobbinah went out of his way to make our experience in Ghana unforgettable by constantly providing us with some form of entertainment from driving us 7 hours to cape coast to teach us about the slave trade, to simply entertaining us in the volunteer house during the endless power cuts which Kumasi suffers. Although the programme was run by Seth, without Cobbinah our time in Ghana would have been complexly different. He was fully involved with the volunteers making sure we were looked after 24/7 and happy. For example making sure he ate supper with us every night, making decorations for Christmas, and taking us around the market which we certainly wouldn’t have coped in without his help. Cobbinah is a clever man who clearly knows what he is doing in the volunteering domain and along with his group of colleagues they have created a charity which I know will aid in changing the lives of both the people in Africa and England. I wish you all the best Cobbinah

“cobbinah made my trip to Ghana very enjoyable, he was always really positive and happy to help us whenever we needed it. He went out of his way to make sure that we felt safe, and that we knew how to get from place to place using the local transport. Having cobbinah around was in a way like having an older brother, you knew that he would look after you, but at the same time you could also have fun and joke around with him”

I have visited Ghana twice, and both times Cobbinah went the extra mile to make my experience great. Nothing was too much trouble for him, he was really helpful. He is trustworthy and reliable, I always felt completely safe in his hands and he showed me so many different parts of the Ghanaian culture.

Cobbinah was very helpful throughout my three months in Ghana. He has a great knowledge of not only the local area to himself (Kumasi) but also the rest of the country – which comes in useful lots when planning trips. Not only is he helpful but also has a great sense of humor and is always happy to drive you to KFC!

I met Cobbinah on my second trip to Ghana in 2015. Ghana had already stolen my heart on my previous trip there in 2014, however the dedication of Cobbinah to the comfort and happiness of the volunteers made the seconds trip that bit even more magical. Cobbinah was there with guidance and advise at any time of the day and night. He was always sure to put a smile on your face with his amazing sense of humor and never ending energy. The most hard working man I’ve ever met by far!

I had an absolutely wonderful time in Ghana- a trip of a lifetime! Cobbinah was always so helpful and would go out of his way to lend us a hand; he would drive you anywhere you wanted and would reliably be there for you any time (day or night!) to pick you up from an evening out or drive you in the early hours (for example to catch a bus back to the airport for your flight). Cobbinah always wanted to make sure you were safe (in fact his car was pretty much the only one I saw in Ghana with functional seatbelts!) and would give out his mobile number so you could always reach him if needs be.
Ghana is an amazing country- there’s so much to do in Accra, Kumasi and further afield at Cape Coast or the national parks where you can get up really close to elephants or walk among the tree tops. If you’re having second thoughts: don’t! You’ll have an amazing experience in Ghana and you will be in good hands with Cobbinah for sure.

An unforgettable experience of volunteering in Ghana ,couldn’t be without the help of Cobbinah Richard ! Always there to help me and others .
Knowing the city of Kumasi so well ,he was the right person to take us to every single place and same time make us feel safe and happy !! No words can describe his kindnesses and humor ! I truly believe that my volunteering experience wouldn’t be that good without Cobbinah!!!!

Cobbinah Richard is the best coordinator you could ever hang around with. Very funny with a great sense of humor. Highly trained to walk you around all the tourist locations in Ghana.
